This is a full-time bargaining unit position responsible for performing all functions associated with installation and maintenance of outside plant facilities, consisting of aerial and buried cables, buildings, and grounds.
- Operate equipment related to both aerial and buried plant in compliance with the design of the equipment.
- Assure that RiverStreet plant is installed and maintained per RUS and RiverStreet standards and specifications.
- Utilize materials and supplies so that maximum economy is realized.
- Report necessary needed maintenance to the Director of Engineering.
- Spicing copper cables.
- Transferring and maintaining existing plant with minimal or no interruptions, both buried and aerial.
- Maintains right of way by trimming trees and landscaping. Apply herbicides.
- Install, repair, and maintain all aerial and buried plant.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.
- Must cooperate and work with other departments for the maximum benefit of the company.

- Ability to work in a technical environment.
- Exhibit safe work habits at all times and follow all company safety rules and regulations.
- Physically capable of performing construction related work including, but not limited to ladder and pole climbing.
- Lifting weight in excess of 100 pounds is required.
- Stooping and bending is required.
- Must have knowledge of both copper and fiber optic cable counts.
- Ability to work overtime, including but not limited to working Saturdays, Sundays, after hours, holidays and during inclement weather conditions.
- Ability to travel out of town to any RiverStreet property, overnight and/or several consecutive days.
- Ability to use various tools, locator equipment, cable plow, and other work equipment as required.
- Associate degree in electrical technology or equivalent of 3 years of service in telecommunication preferred.
- A valid Class A CDL driver’s license is required. (Personal driving insurability may affect employment).
- Must have or be able to obtain forklift certification.
- Must have 3 years work experience operating construction equipment, including but not limited to, cable plow, backhoe, track hoe, and bucket truck.
- Climbing certification or equivalent.
- Maintain the vehicles supplies in a neat and logical manner.
- Unsafe conditions may be encountered; therefore, the employee must proceed with caution, handling work in accordance with safety practices.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
