(Translator/ Interpreter)
Qualifications:
• High School graduate
• Associates degree or interpreter certification preferred
• Experience with providing translation services required
• Pleasant telephone manner, as well as excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to recognize and respect the need for confidentiality
 Able to work flexible hours
• Fluent in English and Spanish
• Able to translate written documents
• Experience working with families
• Excellent word processing, desktop publishing, and administrative skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Valid NC Driver’s License General Duties:
The Translator/Interpreter serves as an assistant to WCPC staff. The Translator Interpreter works closely with staff and reports to the Executive Director. The Translator/ Interpreter works with other WCPC employees to translate agency documents into Spanish. The Translator/Interpreter will complete Parents as Teachers Training and fulfill duties as a Parents as Teachers Facilitator. All members of the WCPC staff participate in segregation of duties, as described in the policies and procedures.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Provide interpretation and translation services for staff by communicating effectively from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English. This includes the full range of Partnership for Children programs.
2. Attend trainings as needed for programmatic, agency and interpreting/translating requirements.
3. Participate in team meetings and agency meetings.
4. Contribute to the overall success and quality of WCPC programs by working and collaboratively with other staff members to address programmatic and agency-wide issues and needs.
5. Assist in publicizing the programs and educating others about agency services.
6. Meets established productivity standards for interpreting/translation services.
7. Completes Parents as Teachers facilitator training and makes monthly in-home family visits with program participants.
7. Interact effectively and respectfully with all individuals.
8. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
This is a temporary position. This position is considered part-time, and hours worked for this position are not to exceed 29 hours per week. Pay is negotiable based on experience and education. This position does not receive any additional benefits.
